Country Mice Nursery sits in the friendly village of Cowfold, Horsham. It is a charity status nursery founded in 1975. Since its foundation it has promoted a love of learning and nurturing children to become happy, confident individuals.
We run from purpose-built premises adjacent to St Peter’s C of E Primary School in Cowfold, Horsham. We have a large, secure garden with many facilities including a climbing frames, wooden castle and playhouse, growing area, and a covered area, so we are able to be outside in all weather.
We have very close links with St Peter’s C of E Primary School, Cowfold and have been able to use the school grounds to explore their field, hold Sports Days and swimming pool party. We also use their hall for PE activities
The day to day running of the setting is undertaken by The Nursery Head, and the setting is staffed by a team of highly qualified and experienced childcare practitioners. We are supported by a committee. We welcome any parents, members of the community or those who have an interest in promoting the learning and wellbeing of our children – the more the merrier!

Lisa Hillier – Nursery Head and Safeguarding Lead (Level 3 Early Years Practitioner)
I’m Lisa and I am level 3 qualified and work as the Nursery Head and Safeguarding Lead at Country Mice Nursery.
I have worked at Country Mice Nursery since 2018.
Both myself and my own 2 two children attended Country Mice Nursery.
Rachel Wadey – Deputy Nursery Head and SENDCO (Level 3 Early Years Practitioner)
I have worked with children from an early age and have my level 3 qualification. I have been part of the Country Mice team since 2018 and I now work as the Deputy Head and SENCO at the nursery.
I have 4 children of my own and 3 step children – I love socializing and being part of a large family.
Beth Charlwood – Level 3 Early Years Practitioner
I am Beth, I have been with country mice since 2019 and I am level 3 early years practitioner.
I often babysit in my spare time and enjoy spending time with my god children or visiting family in Scotland.
Kirsty Towes – Level 3 Early Years Practitioner
I’m Kirsty. I am a level 3 early years practitioner, and I have worked in childcare for the last 8 years.
I have 2 children of my own and enjoy spending time with my family. I attended Country Mice when I was a child.
Lizzie McCabe – After-school and Holiday Club Leader (Level 2 Early Years Practitioner)
I’m Lizzie. I am the after-school and holiday club leader. I joined the country mice team in July 2024.
Prior to this, I worked for a large day nursery and was in that role for 13 years. I am really enjoying being at country mice and getting to know all the children. I live in Cowfold with my three children. I have twin boys who are 11 and an 18-year-old daughter.
Sam Campbell – Office Administrator
I’m Sam and I am the nursery administrator. I joined Country Mice in 2022 after living abroad for a few years, before which I was a midwife. I have two young children and love to paint in my spare time.
